Helms Bakery owner Walter N. Marks III has asked Suisman Urban Design to help with the transformation of Helms Avenue from a public thoroughfare to a private street serving a number of functions. These include parking access, loading, pedestrian paths, outdoor dining, landscaping, and the capability of closure to vehicles for special events. The project is part of the overall enhancement of the Helms Bakery complex into one of the most vibrant mixed use projects in Los Angeles.
